If their DRM was so successful, why do they claim a 93% piracy rate? 93% ineffectual to me is an absolute failure. They can't have it both ways. First I should point out that quoting worldwide piracy rates is ridiculous and pointless as the vast majority of countries never get a release and have literally no other way to play the game than to pirate it.
These countries have literally a 100% piracy rate as no legit games are sold there, it's also not illegal there, and there are actual stores in malls and shopping centers where they go and buy a pirated copy of a game for $5. That is completely normal for them, I'm not defending this or saying it's right, but that's just how it is. This is not a sign of DRM 'failure,' the job of DRM and copy protection is not to make a game completely pirate proof, it's to disuade the average American or European from sharing a game with their friends or reselling it when they are done. DRM is far from 'ineffectual' at serving that purpose. Reselling PC games hurts developers far more than piracy.Then you say they continue the same practices, where in the very article we are discussing they talk about Ubi changing their DRM to be less restrictive, which they did for several games.
