I'm a lifetime pinball lover, and found FX2 early this year on Steam and was pretty amazed with it - it's kind of an ideal combination of pinball and video game - and is honestly the first video pinball I've enjoyed. The tables themselves I've found to be a very mixed bag, so I'd thought I'd share my views on their arsenal of tables and I'd love to hear yours as well. I don't get a chance to chat too much with pinball lovers who have played this game, so I hope you'll chime in!The ones I DO NOT HAVE are Walking Dead, Ms Splosion Man, Mars and Excalibur (so nothing on those).Let's start with the Zen tables. Overall, I'd rate them as average. Core pack:. Pasha - Pretty standard fare. I've only played it a handful of times, and unlocked one achievement as it hasn't really grabbed me.

The art/animations are decent, and it's easy enough to play for awhile without reading the table guide. Rome - Meh, sort of just feels like hitting a ball to me. I haven't found myself engaged in any long-term goals or strategies at all. Biolab - Really interesting. Easily my fave of the core pack, as it's pretty inventive and has goals that are increasingly challenging. Secrets of the deep - Nice, but a bit repetitive feeling for me.

I like the design/layout and gameplay, but it got old a little too fast. Classics Pack:.

El Dorado - This feels quite like a classic table to me, like Gilligan's Island perhaps. That said, I haven't played much as there are too many easy drains, so I haven't stuck with it.

Shaman - Lots of fun, but the sound FX get annoying after a while. Still, one of the better ones from this pack. Tesla - Another good one with lots of interesting play and animations. I've played this one the most by far, out of this pack. V12 - ugh, hate it. The design and action are just really off. I can see what the intentions were, but the execution just doesn't work.

Worst table in the game to me. Epic Quest - Nope. Silly, not much fun, action is weak. Swat 4 mods.

Paranormal - Not bad, but feels a bit forced. Kind of average in the end, I haven't gone back to it much. Earth Defense - Best of this pack for me, but a bit hard. The UX is great, and they nail the retro-scifi angle, but it lacks that feeling of progress. Marvel (full disclosure, I do love Marvel):.

Spider-Man - Love it. The games on this table are the longest of any in my experience, along with the high scores.

I've come a hair away from beating the table, but it's really tough to get all the way. The animations, design and SFX are all top quality, and not a lot of bad drains.

Wolverine - Hm. Almost, not quite. Wolverine has so much potential, but there's just something lacking in the gameplay.

I can get pretty far, but the escalating challenges don't progress that well, and a lot of the action just feels stunted. Mixed bag. Iron Man - as far as capturing the character, this is one of the best. The whole UX is awesome. The only place it falls short is in the progress, where it gets a bit dull and unbalanced - some goals are too easy, others too hard and the hardest ones drain quickly. Very positive, but missing that big replayability to me.

Blade - Positive, but mixed. I got the achievements too quickly and got really far too quickly, so this table is a bit easy for me. The visuals are too complex and confusing - too much going on, but the effort sure is there. I want to love this table, but it's just middling in the end. Avengers Assemble - Love/hate. Some of the gameplay is great, but it gets repetitive and beating the table seems just too hard.

UX is nice, but the gameplay is lacking. Fear Itself - not a popular comic, and the table feels like it's also kind of pointless. I haven't finished a single mission or unlocked any achievements because it's a bit too hard and hasn't grabbed me. I think it relies too much on liking the storyline. World War Hulk - Not bad, plus scores all around. Infinity Gauntlet - Mixed - lots of visuals and missions to like, but it's just a bit odd in terms of gameplay and action.

Ghost Rider - This feels like a classic as well. Pretty simple overall but not easy. It's unspectacular but still lots of fun. Moon Knight - took me a while to get into this one, but when I did I got to love it. Great stuff all around, and it reminded me of all the old MK comics I used to read.

Thor - Pretty nice, but a bit too simple and hard at the same time. Half the missions are really easy, the other half almost impossible. I don't play it much. X-Men - My favorite table, despite having not beaten it yet!

Everything is dead-on, the missions are just hard enough to keep me trying, and the whole UX is brilliant. Love it. Civil War - And then there's this one, which is awful. I can't get anywhere with it, and a lot of the action is just wrong. I've really tried to like it, but nope - hate it. Fantastic Four - A bit too easy, but otherwise quite good.

Popper

Dr Strange - It's a nice try, but I just can't get into it. My least-played Marvel table. Captain America - Has that retro feel to it, but I don't like the action.

The first few minutes are fun, but it gets old. Mixed, but slightly negative overall. Guardians of the Galaxy - Mixed. I have to start with this intro bit every time? The challenges are nice, but I feel like the table relies too much on the film and sacrifices some gameplay. There's a lot to like, but I have to gear myself up to play it. Deadpool - If you like Deadpool, you'll like the game.

It's a bit simple in the standard play, but the challenges are nice and the UX is great. Star Wars (I'm also a SW sucker):. Clone Wars - Pretty good, longest play of all the SW tables for me. A few of the missions are too hard, but overall this has it all going for it. Ep IV - Excellent, still working on getting far. Ep V - Probably the best SW table for me.

Balanced, great gameplay, some of the best movie usage. Ep VI - Good, but I find the missions too complex. The basic play is a bit too simple, on the other hand, so the balance is off. Starfighter Assault - I've played this one the most, as the missions are increasingly challenging, so I get far but haven't quite finished yet. Overall excellent. Boba Fett - Meh. The gameplay lets it down, and it's the fastest-paced game of all, so you literally cannot relax for half a second or it drains.

Han Solo - Hasn't grabbed me yet, but there's a lot to like. Droids - Cute, fun, pretty perfect for what it is, but it doesn't make me want to go back for more and more. Balance of the force - Haven't gotten too far with this one yet. The visuals are great, but the layout doesn't inspire replays much. Darth Vader - Love it, this is very balanced in terms of challenge and replay. Next to Starfighter, this is my most-played SW table.

South Park:. Super sweet - Love it, just brilliant all-around. You surely have to be a fan of the show, but they somehow managed to port the most sardonic thing in the world into an all-ages pinball table - bravo!. Butters - Just as high quality, but not quite as much fun. Most of it is novelty that I can already feel wearing off. Brilliant, but I don't think it will last too long.

Other:. Super League football - Amazing. Hits all the right marks. I only have one table, so I don't know how the individual team tables compare, but Barcelona is great fun. The only downside is that once you've won a league, done the achievements and everything, it doesn't beg to be played much more.

Awesome for a while, but not forever. Plants vs Zombies - strange translation from the video game, but still not bad. Nothing incredible, but solid. Infinity Gauntlet is my favorite Marvel storyline and the table is just so incredibly arcadey. It's super pretty, and not too inconveniently busy (depending on which view you play on). I love the sound bytes ripped directly from the comics (even if they are a little over-played).

I really enjoy how every Gem you activate completely turns the table on its head (figuratively and literally) and the pressure of trying to collect each Gem is a lot of fun with the individual effects in play. Soul World is a fun mini-game.I dunno, there's just a lot to love there for me. It just seems like there's more to it than most of the other Marvel tables. I have 44 of the 48 tables and 68 hours into PFX2. Even with all that time in the game, I feel like I've only just begun to explore the tables.Top tables for me:. Infinity Gauntlet.

Super League Football. Thor. Droids. Spider-Man. Earth Defense. EP IVI haven't put a lot of time into X-Men, Fantastic Four, Darth Vader, or Starfighter but I can tell I will like them when I do.Worst tables:.

V12. Telsa. Paranormal. Rome.

Civil War. Balance of the ForceOn a side note PFX2 is what got me into pinball about 2 year ago. It was the gateway drug. I started playing TPA as well and I pretty much gave up playing any other video game genre.

About 4 months ago I decided I wanted a real machine and after some searching I bought a Revenge from Mars a month ago. I'm loving it! It is true what they say: real pinball is so much better than virtual. I plan on continuing to play PFX2 and TPA but they will get much less of my time.

Seems like we're similar in pinball tastes. FX2 is by far the Steam game I play the most, partly because I can just dip in for a quick break, and partly because of the diversity of all the tables - playing South Park feels like a completely different game to playing X-Men, for example.I don't have any real tables yet. I'm waiting until I have a big enough home to afford a 'den' or whatever in which to park them. I have some old faves that I might try to restore, but that's all in the future.Did you ever play World Cup Pinball, from the 1990s? That's the one I think I played the most and competed for a record score on. IIUC - Darth Vader and Clone Wars run a few modes at once - i.e. Force Hurry-up and Death Star hurry-up at the same time.Darth Vader seems like one of the more strategic tables they've done, but I agree in general that there's generally a lot of what you're describing.I think one of the allures of X-Men to me is that to beat the table you have to finish a couple of missions that are pretty tough to activate, and you have to be wary of re-starting other mini-missions because they can alter the table (like Storm's power seems to screw everything up).

I forgot that I need to buy the South Park tables. Got everything else during a 50% off sale on Steam.

Some thoughts on the tables you DON'T have.Ms. Spolosion Man is forgettable. I played one ball for 30 minutes when I first tried the table. Got bored and quit out. Mars is really fun to look at, but can be a bit convoluted at times. Good table that is worth playing.

TWD is an excellent mix of classic pinball + FX2 style gameplay. I'd grab it even if you aren't a fan of the show or comics (I don't care for either of them, but the table is awesome).

Excalibur took me a while to appreciate. However, now that I understand the rules a bit better, I really enjoy playing it.I agree on your impression of Super League. I haven't finished it yet, but I imagine once I do, I'll have little desire to play it more. You're also missing out big on Epic Quest!

The humor is silly, but the RPG nature is fantastic. And I love Paranormal, but the stupid cube thingy is nigh impossible to 'win'.Also have to echo the frustration behind V12. The layout is SO bad. I can't explain it outside of it just playing incredibly poorly. I wanted to like it, but no matter how many times I play it, I can't.
