Absolutely love this resort. This is our 7th or 8th stay at the Iberostar. We were greeted by the same bellhops that have been there for years. I only remember David's name - he is great, but the other two bellhops are wonderful also. Wilbert has been our waiter forever for breakfast and lunch.
He was off the day we arrived, but made sure he found us the following day. Luis usually is the captain at the steakhouse. He is one of my favorites. The bartenders at the swim up bar and pool bar are great. Service is just exceptional.
We always feel like we are getting special treatment when we stay at the resort. Another reason we stay at the hotel is the location for diving. My husband is a diver and loves that Dressel divers is on site and is a short boat ride from the reefs.
The only con this time in all our stays at the Iberostar is they charges to upgrade our room. We have been given a free room upgrade every time we have stayed.
This time we had to pay. The $500 hotel credit is also a little misleading.
It is not just $500, lump sum, to upgrade. It is different denominations of the $500, i.e. X amount discount on a spa treatment, x amount on room upgrade, x amount towards a romantic dinner, etc. We also did not get our 'welcome back' t-shirts. They are changing the logo and did not have the new shirts in. Dear guest, On behalf of the entire team of Iberostar Cozumel, we would like to thank you for your loyalty towards our brand and for choosing our resort on your most recent vacations at the Mexican Caribbean.
We are delighted to know that you are fond of our beautiful resort and that once again you experienced nothing but exceptional service from all our staff; believe us that comments like yours are another incentive for us to keep striving to exceed our guest expectations. Furthermore, we offer you a sincere apology if we did not make you feel as the very special guest you truly are for us; we assure you that we will share your comments to our Management to take them into consideration. It will be an honor to receive you and your husband once again in the very close future!
With gratitude, Quality Manager Iberostar Cozumel. The hotel facilities were fin the staff is friendly and is is more than willing to help and give excellent service. The food is good but as we were there 2 weeks the food got a little bit repetitive but was good. This is our 4th year diving with Dressel and we would recommend it to all divers. The Dressel Dive Center located on the hotel site is excellent.
The staff is amazing specially Eva, Maddy and Margarit, they were always there to help us and feel right at home for the two weeks we were diving. Maddy was always available to assist when necessary this and last year she proved invaluable to me after a diving incident. We dove with Eva and Margarit which were our dive masters this year and they instill confidence and security in all aspect. I would strongly recommend Dressel and more precisely in Cozumel team for a great dive experience. Thanks to a great team from Deb and Gilles. We returned to this resort for the second year in a row.
Our primary reasons were the diving, small resort with good service and dive shop. We booked directly with Iberostar and saved money over the travel companies, such as Apple.
They handled flight and resort. We just had to handle the transfers which was easy on line in advance and would have been easy at arrival and departure. We actually had a dedicated transfer for 4 of us for a little over $100 round trip. Never had dedicated with the travel company. Check in was once again easy and quick.
We even booked our 3 restaurant dinners and then to the rooms. Only one was ready (we were their by 2) but just put everything in the one and went to lunch. The one disappointment was that we did not get any special welcome, perks or improved room location based on being return customers (as well as 4 time Iberostar customers). We were in the back with two rooms next to each other. But with the size of the resort not a real inconvenience. They tried to sell us on an Iberostar program, but it was not a hard sell and 'no thanks' was all it took.
The were only a few changes from last year, One was no more plastic water bottles. You get glass bottles to use and take to one of the fill-up stations when you need more. For us it was the next building over. I was concerned about breaking one since the tile floors but it worked out. Some may not like not having clean bottles each day and we did not ask, but probably could request fresh ones. With the Coronavirus concerns we stuck with less handling. They also got new towels and raised the lost towel fee to $25, so keep an eye on them.
I saw a woman come back to her chairs to find them missing. Although I will say she was one of the many annoying people that put towels on chairs early and then was gone for hours. I thought that $25 may be a deterrent for that behavior, but it was actually worse than last year. We are up early for diving and could easily get chairs, but we refuse to drop to that level and had to scrounge for something when we got back at lunch while walking by all the empty chairs with towels. The restaurants were the same as my prior review, Steak house was our favorite and oriental was the least (but not bad). The shows they did were very good.
All the servers worked very hard and were always polite, even with the end coming (more on that). Never much of a wait for anything. The buffet food was well balanced and similar to what I remember from last year.
I like fish and there was plenty of it. One new thing was a taco station each day at lunch (different meats).
One thing I missed was no paella. Corona virus - We were unsure on going on this trip due to the virus emerging. There was still only 1000 cases in the US and only a few in our state as well as none in Cozumel and 7 cases in Mexico City, so we went for it. Early in the trip you could not tell in the atmosphere of people that it was an issue. We took our own cups, hand sanitizer and wipes as well as washed hands often.
But as the week went on and things got worse back home things changed on the resort. Shows were cancelled, Many things were put on individual plates to eliminate everyone sharing tongs. You could no longer self serve water cups at the bar and they gave you full cups to fill your private cups as to not touch everyone's cup. When the border was announced closed on Thursday the resort really started thinning out and then they gave everyone that was staying past Saturday notes saying they were closing on Sunday. All the while the staff remained professional and cheerful even though their income source would end in days. I pray that this all passes soon and life can return to normal and that all that were planning to visit we still do so in the future. Once again a good vacation and while we may try another dive destination next year to get variation, we love diving Cozumel and will be back to the Iberostar.
Dear guest, We would like you to know that your loyalty to us is truly admired and we thank you for sharing your experience with us, during the current situation, we would like to show you our gratitude for trusting Iberostar Cozumel. We hope you and your family have taken home some pleasant memories of your stay and we appreciate your kind words regarding our staff. They will be thrilled to hear your compliments.

We understand that we can only improve the guest experience on the basis of constant dialogue with such valued guests like yourself. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Until then, we wish you and your family well. Kind regards, Quality Manager Iberostar Cozumel. We visited Feb 28 - March 6, 2020.
There were 4 of us in our group, myself, my husband, my mother, and my aunt. I loved the layout of the resort. The beach was beautiful, access to the ocean was used by the dock. Never had a problem finding a beach chair. The food was excellent, the buffet was varied, we went to all 3 a la cartes, our favourite was the steak house.
The bottom line, Singularity has it moments, but there are too many slow points and too much inexperience seeping through for it to be something I would ever watch again or recommend over hundreds. Singularity movie. Sort of sci-fi channel, TV-movie quality where it looks like they made the movie in a hurry, with a low budget and no attention to detail. It's supposed to be 100 years after the destruction of civilization, and everyone, including a band of woods-dwelling ruffians, have perfectly coiffed hair and beards. Directed by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen. With Damon Wayans Jr., Sugar Lyn Beard, Michelle Buteau, Amanda Lund. A look at life in the future when artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence. Singularity (2017 film) Singularity is an Swiss/American science fiction film. It was written and directed by Robert Kouba, and its first shoot, in 2013, starred Julian Schaffner, Jeannine Wacker and Carmen Argenziano. The film was first released in 2017, after further scenes with John Cusack were added.

Loved the abundance of wildlife through out the resort, the flamingos and parrots were entertaining! This is the first time we stayed at a smaller resort, and we really like the vibe of the place, it was a quick walk to anywhere on the resort.
The staff were excellent. Shout out to Alexander!
He truly made our stay memorable, he was so friendly and helpful, and always a smile on his face. Thank you Alexander for the travel tips, we truly appreciate all that you did for us!! We rented a jeep for the day and visited Punta Sur and some of the bars along the coast. Beautiful drive! Also went to the Mayan Cacao Factory and to the town of San Miguel, and also took the snorkel excursion, they pick you up at the end of the dock. Truly breathtaking.
Will definitely be back!!
